ASIC Design for Real-Time One-Shot Correction of Optical Aberrations and Perspective Distortion in Microdisplay Systems

Abstract: As microdisplay systems have become more affordable for various applications, the need for larger field-of-view has become important, typically for near-to-eye (NTE) applications. However, for NTE applications, pincushion distortion and color aberration are difficult to avoid, due to the high magnification of the optics for the systems. In addition to optical distortion, various distortions such as perspective distortion may occur in combination. In this paper, we propose a novel architecture and algorithm for… Show more

“…The varying incident angle between the laser scanning pattern and the planar glass wafer causes the varying angle of refraction on air-glass boundaries. Corrections for these distortions could be designed into the optics or distortion correction algorithms [15][16][17] may be used to compensate for the distortions in an imaging application. Figure 8 presents a varying scanning pattern that meets the design specifications.…”

“…From the introduction in the previous section, it can be seen that the internal control function of the non-volatile device memory used in the design of the drive power quality management system chip can be basically divided into three functional modules: the main state machine data control function module, read data control function module and read and write data control function module [10][11]. According to different functional requirements, we can divide each module in detail, as shown in Table 1 Home agent PM firmware Among them: The main control function of the chip read state machine data control management module is to read the chip OTP or internal memory data or read instructions.…”

“…We had designed a hardware logic for the correction of both optic distortion and perspective distortion for FSC-type (Field Sequential Color) LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) display panel [7]. It utilized bi-linear approximation with the fixed number of rectangular shaped grids to morph input video in real-time for compensating visual artifacts from optics or surroundings.…”
