Mysterious yet unavoidable, silence-phenomena appear to us in inherent ambiguity. In its plurality of meanings, phenomena related to silence are often perceived as overwhelming because they transcend the communicative capacity of language making it a challenge for cultural psychology to understand its involvement in our processes of making sense of experience and existence. Human growth and development involve processes where presence, void and content, voice, sound and noise, motion, transition and stillness, have dialectic interactions. In this article I discuss silence-phenomena as a bordering notion in terms of its discursive quality, the silent quality of speech, and the awareness of the ineffable. In addition, I highlight the possible implications of such notion in the understanding of affect from the perspective of Semiotic Cultural Psychology. I also emphasize the importance of considering psychological borders as multi-dimensional, taking the phenomenological experience of temporality as an illustration, which is also related to high emotional involvement of attention.

“…Essa fala ininterrupta pode levar, novamente, o leitor a sentir a angústia desse indivíduo, uma vez que esse recurso faz com que a leitura seja mais rápida e, assim, transmita toda a carga emocional contida no trecho, visto que o cansaço e o deslocamento das personagens ganham destaque por intermédio da linguagem do autor. Orlandi (1995) também explica que em situação de censura, não é possível dizer o que se sabe, pois o silêncio em contexto autoritário significa interdição. Em um dos trechos do conto, é possível perceber o sentimento de angústia das personagens ao dizerem que "[...] cultura demais mata o corpo da gente, cara, filmes demais, livros demais, palavras demais, só consegui te possuir me masturbando, tinha a biblioteca de Alexandria separando nossos corpos" (ABREU, 1985, p. 16).…”

ResumoTomando os livros didáticos como suporte privilegiado dos conteúdos educativos, objetivamos compreender de que forma livros didáticos de Física abordam a temática da utilização das radiações na Medicina. Fundamentados em noções de Análise de Discurso, analisamos se e como nove coleções aprovadas pelo PNLD-2018 o fazem em termos: da extensão e dos momentos dedicados ao assunto; da acurácia e do detalhamento conceitual; e das visões sobre as inter-relações entre Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade. Em média, cada coleção dedicou menos de duas páginas ao assunto, especialmente nos livros destinados ao 3º ano e em capítulos sobre ondas eletromagnéticas e Física Moderna. Os tópicos mais abordados foram radiografia, radioterapia e Medicina Nuclear. Encontramos imprecisões que acabam dificultando ou até mesmo interditando a possibilidade de produção de sentidos pertinentes do ponto de vista científico em onze trechos. Consideramos também que 28 trechos poderiam ter sido melhor detalhados com o objetivo de possibilitar menor abrangência no espectro de sentidos possíveis e, consequentemente, maior esclarecimento aos leitores. De forma geral, os trechos consultados evidenciam uma visão pouco crítica sobre as inter-relações entre Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade, predominando o entendimento da Física como maior promotora do progresso. Por fim, tendo em vista os resultados obtidos, sugerimos tópicos cuja presença nos livros didáticos poderia contribuir junto à formação de cidadãos conscientes e críticos sobre aspectos e problemas contemporâneos. AbstractTaking the textbooks as a privileged support of the educational contents, we aim to understand how Physics textbooks approach the thematic of the use of radiations in Medicine. Based on notions of Discourse Analysis, we analyze whether and how nine collections approved by PNLD-2018 do it in terms of: the extent and the moments dedicated to the subject; the accuracy and conceptual detailing; and the visions about the interrelationships between Science, Technology and Society. On average, each collection devoted less than two pages to the subject, especially in the textbooks for the 3rd year and in chapters on electromagnetic waves and Modern Physics. The topics most covered were radiography, radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine. We find inaccuracies that end up complicating or even interdicting the possibility of producing scientifically pertinent meanings in eleven parts. We also considered that 28 parts could have been better detailed in order to allow less comprehensiveness in the spectrum of possible meanings and, consequently, more clarification to the readers. In general, the parts consulted reveal an uncritical view on the interrelationships between Science, Technology and Society, with the understanding of Physics as the main promoter of progress.
