“…The extra transesterification occurring for PyC12-PIOC12 is probably attributed to the low reactivity of iodododecane and the alkaline environment provided by the pyridine moiety. Detailed synthesis procedures and characterization data of 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, and high-resolution mass spectra (HRMS) are provided in the Supporting Information (SI). In addition, the structure of PyMe-PIO and PyBu-PIO is further confirmed by X-ray crystallography analysis for the single crystals cultured in a single solvent of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and methanol, respectively.…”

“…Instruments. 1 H and 13 C NMR spectra were measured on a Bruker AVANCE III HD 400/500 spectrometer in deuterated methanol or acetone using tetramethylsilane (TMS; δ = 0) as an internal reference at room temperature. HRMS were recorded on a GCT Premier CAB048 mass spectrometer operating in MALDT-TOF mode.…”

“…The latter has lately attracted considerable attention, as transmembrane anion transport is crucial to several biological processes [ 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 ]. Failure in maintaining chloride homeostasis in cells is related to various diseases [ 16 ] such as cystic fibrosis, in which a malfunctioning of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene causes defective chloride transport [ 17 ]. The development of artificial chloride transmembrane transporters, as substitutes for such defective anion channels, has been tackled during the last two decades [ 18 ].…”

“…In response to endogenous stimuli, ion channels within membranes exhibit special transportation properties and therefore affect cell behaviors. With inspiration from the abundant natural ion channels in biological systems, artificial intelligent nanochannels have attracted tremendous research attention in recent years. Extensive research efforts have been announced toward the exploitation of novel stimuli to regulate the valves of channels. To this end, the interfaces or internal walls of channels are decorated using different functional molecules to realize a specific response to environmental stimulation including pH, , temperature, , light, , and specific ions. , For example, Zhou and co-workers coated the anodized aluminum (AAO) with mesoporous carbon-silica (MCS) through an interfacial super-assembly strategy to construct a two-component MCS/AAO composite membrane, which exhibited enhanced permselectivity and could mediate the temperature and pH dual-sensitive ionic transport . Despite the significant progress in external-stimuli-responsive nanochannels, examples of gas-responsive nanochannels are still rare.…”
