Show more

“…These results agree with Araújo and Silva (2012), whose work with cotton trees highlights the direct connection between B and the plant development; and Funguetto et al (2010) who highlight the Zn participation in different metabolic routes which provide growth, therefore influencing the plant's active photosynthetic area. Nevertheless, Albuquerque et al (2010) report the negative influence of Zn to the plants growth when it is found in high amounts in the environment. Regarding the roots production, which are important for growth parameters due to its importance in the absorption of nutrients and water, there was no significant effect of treatments for variables, root length, root dry mass, number of ramifications, total root size (Table 2).…”

“…The esterase isozyme presents itself as an important molecular tool that allows evaluating the physiological quality of the seeds (Albuquerque et al, 2010). This is related to the ester hydrolysis reactions, maintaining a direct relationship with the lipid metabolism and the degeneration process of the cell membranes (Santos et al, 2004).…”

“…This is related to the ester hydrolysis reactions, maintaining a direct relationship with the lipid metabolism and the degeneration process of the cell membranes (Santos et al, 2004). The presence of lipids during the germination process of the seeds is important for the restoration of embryonic axis growth (Veiga et al, 2010).…”

“…According to Albuquerque et al (2010), Zn, when applied to seeds, can be completely absorbed by the seedlings, especially when grown in a sandy substrate, thus preventing nutrient losses. In addition, the difference initial seedling emergence and emergence between the control and various zinc levels can be explained by the direct contact of roots with the mineral (Prado et al, 2007), which might enhance germination and vigor (Ribeiro and Santos, 1996).…”
