“…Another recent meta-analysis of SLT vs ALT demonstrated the number of patients achieving ≥3 mmHg or ≥20.0% decrease from baseline was 40%–85% of patients with a summative result of 60.1% 18. However, the baseline mean pretreatment IOP in these studies ranged from 19.2 to 24.0 mmHg, while our baseline IOP measurements were lower at 18.26 mmHg in the MLT group and 16.85 mmHg in the SLT group 1922…”

“…12 Likewise, the success rate of our subjects was in agreement to previous randomized controlled trials, showing that selection bias was unlikely to be significant. 19,21,29 Our study had its limitations. Firstly, the duration of observation was only 1 month post-SLT.…”

“…[19][20][21][22][23] Identification of responders would therefore be important in the clinical application of SLT. By far the most well-proven predictor for SLT success is a higher baseline IOP.…”

“…Liu and Birt 27 in Canada compared the effectiveness of 1801 ALT and 1801 SLT in lowering IOP in a younger cohort of patients (o60 years). Forty-two patients (42 eyes) were included in the study, with 22 randomised to ALT and 20 randomised to SLT.…”
