“…The research group was a transdisciplinary team, consisting of a photographer, an artist and an architect, in addition to several social anthropologists and a human geographer. Our approach builds on participatory action research (PAR) and citizen social science (Albert et al., 2021; Raanaas et al., 2018), and we consequentially applied and tested a multitude of methods like walk‐alongs, narrative embroidery, drawing sessions, co‐created visual inquiries and informal, participant observation of workshops with youth and municipal officials involved in the renovation process (Hagen & Andersen, 2021; Hagen & Osuldsen, 2021; Tolstad et al., 2017; Tolstad & Dalseide, 2021; Vestby, 2020).
