Aqueous‐Phase Hydrodechlorination of Trichloroethylene on Ir Catalysts Supported on SBA‐3 Materials

Abstract: This work investigates the catalytic properties of silica and aluminosilicate SBA-3 supported iridium catalysts in aqueous phase hydrodechlorination of trichloroethylene. SBA-3, AlSBA-3, Ir/SBA-3 and Ir/AlSBA-3 were thoroughly characterized by XRD, BET, TPR-H 2 , H 2 chemisorption, TPD-NH 3 and investigated in catalytic removal of trichloroethylene from water in batch reactor under mild operation conditions. Uniformly dispersed small iridium nanoparticles (~3 nm) was found to be active in catalytic purificatio… Show more

“…5a shows wide-X-ray diffraction patterns (WXRD) of G-SBA, SBA/CuO, SBA/ZnO, and SBA/CuZnO, where all samples exhibit a wide peak at 2q values of 23.0 due to the non-crystalline silica. [39][40][41] Compared to SBA-3, SBA/ZnO diffractogram exhibits no other crystal peaks, which means that they are present in non-crystalline small clusters of ZnO. For SBA/CuO and SBA/ CuZnO mesoporous silica compositions, except for the broad diffuse peak of SBA-3, two extra characteristic peaks can be observed at 2q values of 35.5 and 38.7 , corresponding to the (À111) and (111) reections, respectively.…”

“…15) but with similar thermal and hydrothermal resistances. 15 In the literature, applications of SBA-3 as a catalyst support are rare. 16,17 However, special attention has been focused on the preparation of various magnetic nanostructures owing to their unique characteristics and potential applications in various elds.…”

“… 14 SBA-3 (pore diameter > 3 nm) and SBA-1 (pore diameter > 2 nm) can contain some micropores too. 15 However, the microporosity of SBA-3 is higher than that of SBA-15 (ref. 15 ) but with similar thermal and hydrothermal resistances.…”

“…1,2 Investigations on synthesis and properties of the mesoporous molecular sieves developed enormously due to their potential application in the eld of catalysis, separation and adsorption, host-guest systems, especially for bulky molecules. [3][4][5] The absence of active sites in the framework of these pure siliceous materials limits their direct application as catalysts 6,7 but their high surface area makes them good supports of many active phase due to ability to form highly dispersed active species on their surface even at relatively high loadings.…”
