“…Furthermore, the distribution coefficients and extraction percentages of nicotine are observed to increase with the concentration of organic salts and TLL. Here, it can be argued that from the high values of K and E, all the organic salts provide very large distribution coefficients and extraction percentages as the inorganic salts, 20 indicating that these organic salts as salting-out media appear to perform very well in the extraction of nicotine from water.…”

“…Compared to traditional solvent extraction using environmentally unfriendly organic solvents, salting-out technology has been found to be one of the promising sustainable treatments of hydrophilic target from its aqueous solution with several remarkable advantages, such as high extraction efficiency, low cost, the easiness of operation, and scale-up. Lopes et al and Grozdanic et al observed that adding very small quantities of inorganic salts or ionic liquids to nicotine solutions induced a remarkable aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) formation. In our previous work, a systematic examination of the salting-out characteristics for recovering nicotine was obtained using six different inorganic salts including sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium bromide, potassium bromide, sodium carbonate, and sodium sulfate, and phase diagrams have been obtained for each ATPS system involved.…”

“…4 One of the biggest challenges for the extraction and purification of biomolecules such as amino acids, enzymes, antioxidants, hormones, antibodies, and vitamins is the preservation of their bioactivity and intrinsic value (biocompatibility), which makes processes with green solvents and mild extractive conditions almost mandatory. Moreover, other relevant issues include the continuous operation and commercial viability of extractions at large scale (industrial feasibility), 5 which is favored by high-value products and cheap raw materials.…”

“…Being a water-based biocompatible system, the ABS is used for separation and purifications of biomolecules . A comprehensive review of extraction and separation of biomolecules using polymer-, IL-, and inorganic salt-based ABSs has recently been reported . Not only for biomolecule purifications, extraction and separations of different metal species were also investigated using different ABSs during the past few years.…”

“…5 A comprehensive review of extraction and separation of biomolecules using polymer-, IL-, and inorganic salt-based ABSs has recently been reported. 11 Not only for biomolecule purifications, extraction and separations of different metal species were also investigated using different ABSs during the past few years. Speciesdependent extraction of molybdenum was studied using a triblock copolymer-and sodium sulfate-based ABS.…”
