“…MEAD has been shown in other clinical studies to provide both reliable and significant results for analysis of the meridian energy and the index of the vagal-sympathetic balance. 6,15,30,31 The measurements were started with very low current and gradually increased to a maximum value of 200 µA. Recordings of the electrical conductivity of the meridians were entered directly into a computerized system.…”

“…11 Mean skin conductance measured along the 12 meridians was lower in patients with renal colic compared to control subjects. 12 These studies suggest that alteration of skin impedance may have a role in detection and monitoring of disease.…”

“…1 Meridians are pathways along which internal energy flows. Twelve (12) main meridians have been identified, and each is supposedly linked to a specific vital organ. 1 The function of these organs can be influenced by the flow of Qi along the associated meridian.…”

“…The electrical states of the acupuncture points of the human subject are measured by a computerized testing instrument with a very low electrical current. More recently, our report showed that measures of electrical conductance, especially the index of sympathovagal balance, may be used as valuable supplementary diagnostic methods for selective intervention in patients with acute renal colic [6]. …”
