Application of St Gallen Categories in Predicting Survival for Patients With Breast Cancer in Vietnam

Abstract: Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease with different tumor subtypes. Identifying risk categories will help make better treatment decisions. Hence, this study aimed to predict the survival outcomes of invasive breast cancer in Vietnam, using St Gallen 2007 classification. This study was conducted on 501 patients with breast cancer who had surgical operations, but had not received neoadjuvant chemotherapy, from 2011 to 2013. The clinicopathological characteristics were recorded. Immunohistochemistry staining … Show more

“…This result is logical according to one study showing that the breast cancer incidence in Vietnamese women was highest at the age of 50[21]. Meanwhile, the overall survival rate for breast cancer patients was 85.01 ± 1.61 months[28]. Similarly, according to a study investigating the breast cancer mortality rate in China during 1991 -2011 showing that breast cancer usually occurs post-puberty, and its incidence increases slowly from 30 years old, reaching a peak at the ages of 40-60, and the first death peak occurring at 55 to 65 years[20].…”

“…Identifying and identifying different subtypes of gastric cancer samples at these molecular levels can not only help people understand the disease at the root, but also help doctors choose the best medicine [24]. Treatment options predict the survival of different patients and identify high-risk factors associated with specific subtypes [25]. The purpose of this study is to expect to obtain gastric cancer subtypes that are related to gastric cancer biology and clinical data at the gene expression level and methylation level, and use the information gene to establish a classifier at the molecular level to predict the class assignment of new samples.…”

“…Thus, this requires an essential demand for the application of the appropriate treatment protocols, which are used in Vietnam for managing patients with BC. 19 Therefore, to comprehensively decipher the role of AR in BC, the current study was investigated to define the AR expression and AR:ER ratio, and explored their correlation with the clinicopathological features, prognosis, and survival outcomes in the various subclasses of invasive BC.…”
