Application of rice husk ash in high strength concrete

Abstract: Rice husk ash waste would cause dangerous environmental problems in soil and air. One of the solutions to overcome the environmental impact of rice husk ash is by processing it into a partial substitute for cement. The purpose of this study was to analyze the compressive strength of high strength concrete. The method used was experimental research by utilizing rice husk ash as a cement substitute in concrete with a percentage of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and the addition of superplasticizer. The test object was m… Show more

“…It is characteristically used in applications where high strength and/or durability are required, such as high-rise buildings and bridges. It is advantageous over normal concrete due to better workability, greater strength and improved durability [19]. Pozzolans, such as fly ash and silica fume, are commonly employed as SCMs in HSC.…”

“…It is possible to reduce the environmental impact of rice husk ash waste and lower CO2 emissions by partially substituting it for cement. Rice husk ash, abundant in silica content, is produced through the combustion of rice husks, and its pozzolanic qualities increase the strength of concrete (12).…”
