Application of exergoeconomic analysis for power plants

Abstract: Original scientific paper https://doi.org/10.2298/TSCI170217098UCurrently, energy resources are rapidly consumed. Therefore, scientists and engineers study the effective use of energy. In the present study, a thermodynamic and exergoeconomic analysis was performed in a thermal power plant in Turkey. The study involved determining the thermodynamic properties of 27 node points in a thermal power plant unit, and this was followed by calculating energy and exergy values of every node. Mean exergy costs were calcu… Show more

“…The VVER-1200/509 (AE-2006) type reactors at Akkuyu NPP are upgraded versions of VVER-1000 type reactors. They have a higher power capacity, longer operational life, and enhanced safety features, and were designed and built in accordance with modern safety standards [21,55]. The reactors have an electricity generation capacity of 1200 MWe, a design life of up to 60 years, and can operate with an efficiency of up to 36% [55].…”

“…Although natural gas-based power plant only accounts for about 5 % in China, it tends to increase in a long period. Thermal performance investigations on NGCC power plants have been carried on actively [15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22]. The ambient temperature is an important factor that has a considerable effect on the thermal performance of an NGCC power plant.…”

“…The 15% castor oil biodiesel in diesel resulted in optimum engine performance with improved thermal and exergetic efficiency [9]. The internal losses in any thermodynamic systems could not be evaluated by first law of thermodynamics [10,11]. The energy loss in thermal power equipments could not be evaluated based on only the first law of thermodynamics [12].…”
