The Pademawu coast has rapidly transformed into salt ponds, causing seawater intrusion and pollution. This study aims to examine the quality of groundwater in the surrounding settlement area of Pademawu and assess its eligibility for daily use. The psychochemical parameters of groundwater are measured in situ. Groundwater samples from several stations are analyzed in the laboratory and used to collect several chemical compounds, including Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, HCO3-, Cl-, SO42-, Fe2+, Mn2+, F-, NO2-, NO3, and CaCO3. The detected concentrations are then used to calculate TH, sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), %Na, PI, KR, and MH. Hydrochemical calculation and interpretation are also performed. The groundwater characteristics are determined according to TDS, conductivity, and water quality index (WQI). Results showed that the groundwater facies are predominated by Ca-HCO3 (50%) in the northern and middle study areas and Na-Cl (37%) in the salt farming area. The groundwater is categorized as SAR (C2S1) in the north and SAR (C4S2) in the south. The primary groundwater consists of Na+ and Cl- (dominant cation and anion) originating from salt farming. The TDS in the salt farming area ranges from 1000 mg/L to 3000 mg/L (slightly saline). The WQI ranges from 39.0 to 735.4, which encompasses excellent water, good water, very poor water, and unsuitable for consumption. Salt farming infiltration toward unconfined aquifers is the primary factor causing groundwater pollution. Mitigation efforts to minimize scattered infiltration must be applied in the Pademawu Subdistrict by modifying the system between salt farming and settlement areas.

Seepage control in the dam is vital in maintaining dam safety. It is important to determine the source of seepage water to be controlled so that there is no excessive seepage that threatens dam stability. This study used Physico-chemical parameters and stable isotopes (δ2H and δ18O) to determine groundwater characteristics, the groundwater origin around the dam, and the connectivity of the Ciawi and Sukamahi Dry Dam’s seepage with surrounding water sources. This research shows that the groundwater in the study area includes freshwater with TDS values varying from 62 ppm to 189 ppm and EC values from 62 μS/cm to 414 μS/cm. The results of stable isotope analysis showed that the composition of seepage and groundwater sources around the dams are around the local meteoric water line (LMWL); this indicates that groundwater is more influenced by rainwater. Comparing the composition of δ2H and δ18O showed that the seepage water from the two dams has the same genesis as springs in Sukakarya Village (MA02) and dug wells in Gadog Village (SG13). This information is beneficial in determining the handling of seepage in the Ciawi dan Sukamahi Dry Dams.

ABSTRAK Kawasan pesisir Pademawu yang beralih fungsi menjadi pusat pertanian garam menimbulkan beberapa dampak negatif yang salah satunya adalah permasalahan kerentanan sumber daya air tanah. Beberapa sumur gali milik penduduk sudah berubah menjadi payau hingga asin. Evaluasi terhadap kualitas air tanah di kawasan tersebut sangat dibutuhkan untuk mengetahui kerentanan air tanah. Penilaian kerentanan air tanah dilakukan berdasarkan parameter hidrogeokimia dan indeks kualitas air Water Quality Index (WQI). Fasies hidrokimia air tanah didominasi oleh fasies CaHCO3 kemudian NaHCO3 dan NaCl. Nilai rasio Na/Cl dan Cl/HCO3 menunjukkan bahwa dalam air tanah daerah penelitian telah terjadi proses pencampuran air laut ke dalam akuifer dengan kategori penyusupan air laut sedikit hingga agak tinggi. Kondisi tersebut didominasi oleh proses infiltrasi air tambak garam ke dalam akuifer. Nilai Water Quality Index (WQI) berkisar 46,69-736,42, kategori WQI good water mendominasi wilayah penelitian sebanyak 45,45%, excellent 27,28%, poor water 18,18% dan satu sampel air masuk kategori 9,09%. Lokasi dengan kategori poor water dan very poor water berada di sumur gali penduduk yang berdekatan dengan garis pantai dan tambak garam. Pengaturan tataguna lahan antara kawasan pemukiman dan tambak garam sangat dibutuhkan sehingga tidak memperluas area kerentanan air tanah di pesisir Pademawu.
