O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os parâmetros morfológicos de mudas de aroeira em tubetes biodegradáveis. Foram comparados tubete de polipropileno (PP) e o tubete comercial SIS BCG® (Biodegradável). Após 90 dias, foram analisados: altura (H), diâmetro do colo (DC), massa seca da parte aérea (MSPA), massa seca da raiz (MSR), índice de qualidade de Dickson (IQD) e índice de Robustez (IR) das mudas de aroeira. Observou-se que as mudas de aroeira não apresentaram diferença estatística entre os tipos de tubetes para todos os parâmetros de altura, diâmetro do colo, massa seca da parte aérea, massa seca da raiz e índice de qualidade de Dickson. Por outro lado, houve diferença estatística entre os tubetes apenas para o índice de rusticidade, sendo que as mudas tiveram melhor índice para o tubete biodegradável. Portanto, os tubetes biodegradáveis podem ser utilizados para a produção de mudas em viveiro florestal, pois não influenciaram negativamente nos parâmetros de crescimento e desenvolvimento de mudas de espécies florestais nativas, permitindo o crescimento até que as mudas atingissem os parâmetros necessários para ir a campo.

Extensive areas have been degraded worldwide through mineral extraction. Mining class II, especially sand and pebble mining (gravel extraction), has grown significantly in Brazilian Amazonia mainly in the State of Pará. In this context, the development of suitable and efficient recovery techniques is necessary to ensure mined land restoration. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different types of management and green manure methods to recover degraded soil after the mining of pebbles and sand. The experiment was implemented in the northern region of the municipality of Capitão Poço, State of Pará. The procedures we used were: a randomized block design experiment, with a 4 × 3 factorial arrangement. Four legume species were tested: Cajanus cajan (L.), Canavalia ensiformis (L.) DC, Crotolaria juncea (L.), and Mucuna pruriens (L.); in addition, three soil conditions were also tested: exposed soil, topsoil, and hydrogel. Results of the analyses showed how the root collar diameter, stem length, fertility, germination, green and dry biomass varied; the variable topsoil had better results when compared to the samples that used hydrogel and those established on exposed soil in practically all the mean comparisons for isolated factors. Besides this, C. ensiformis (L.) DC and M. pruriens (L.) showed a better development, especially when grown in soils with topsoil deposition as a reconformed substrate. From these studies we conclude that the use of this substrate is to be recommended. C. ensiformis (L.) DC and M. pruriens (L.) are also recommended for restoration.

This study had the objective to evaluate the initial growth and crown cover of native cerrado species of different successional groups in planting forest restoration in Chapadão do Sul, MS, with an experiment installed in February of 2013 to test restoration models. Twelve species were selected, being four pioneers: Anadenanthera falcata, Cybistax antisyphilitica, Platypodium elegan and Samanea tubulosa; four early secondary species: Dipteryx alata, Sterculia striata, Alibertia edulis and Enterolobium contortisiliquum; and four late secondary species: Cedrela fissilis, Copaifera langsdorfii, Handroanthus roseo-albus and Hymenaea stilbocarpa. Diameter at soil height (DSH), total height and crown diameter were measured at 8, 14, 20 and 26 months after planting. the periodic increase in height and DSH were calculated by species, group and age, and the crown area at 26 months. The highest increases in height and DSH were from the pioneers group and from the early secondary until 26 months, and the lowest increases were from the late secondary species. The species within each group vary their initial investment in height and DSH. The pioneers group presented the largest crown areas, while the late secondary group presented the smallest.
