“…The ATTR form can be further classified in hereditary transthyretin‐related amyloidosis (ATTRm), due to mutations in the gene codifying for transthyretin, and systemic senile amyloidosis, a noninherited form caused by the deposition of the wild‐type transthyretin (TTR) protein (ATTRwt) in the extracellular space . Cardiac involvement is frequent in both AL and ATTR amyloidosis, and is associated with important clinical and psychological consequences that have a significant impact on prognosis…”

“…Previous studies conducted in AL amyloidosis, a disease with a different systemic involvement, age of onset, and therapeutic approach, showed that anxiety and depression were common, reported in approximately 30% of subjects ( Smorti et al, 2012 , 2014 , 2016 ; Lo et al, 2015 ; Shu et al, 2016 ; Lopes et al, 2018 ). Moreover, Smorti et al found that time since the onset of cardiac symptoms was a positive predictor of anxiety in AL patients, whereas only the severity of cardiac symptoms was for depression ( Smorti et al, 2012 ).…”

“…1 Findings from our own research group have suggested that anxiety and depressive problems are common among AL CA patients and that they are related to cardiac symptom severity and thus contribute to the worsening of individuals' health status. 3,4 In particular, anxiety and depression in AL CA patients are linked to the worsening of cardiac symptoms over time. In other words, patients with worse symptoms have reported higher levels of anxiety and depression compared to those with less severe symptomatology, in line with previous research on cardiac patients.…”

“…In other words, patients with worse symptoms have reported higher levels of anxiety and depression compared to those with less severe symptomatology, in line with previous research on cardiac patients. 3,[5][6][7][8] Nevertheless, health has been defined as 'a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being' 9 and not just the absence of disease. In the context of this expanded definition of health, satisfaction with life is emerging as an important issue for understanding the nature of psychological disorders and their impact on life.…”
