Abstract:Background
GRN mutations cause frontotemporal dementia (FTD) due to haploinsufficiency of progranulin. Several microRNAs (miRs), including miR‐29b, have been reported to negatively regulate progranulin protein levels. Here, we tested if antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) – which are versatile modulators of target mRNA/protein levels – can be used to increase progranulin levels by sterically blocking the miR‐29b binding site.MethodWe designed 48 ASOs targeting the miR‐29b binding site in the 3’ UTR of the human … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
