“…Curcumin might decrease bone resorption by inhibition of osteoclast proliferation, differentiation, and activity as well as by promotion of osteoclast apoptosis [44][45][46][47]. Although no consistent conclusion has been reached concerning its benefits in osteogenesis, our present findings demonstrate that curcumin significantly decreases osteoblast apoptosis induced by H 2 O 2 with similar effectiveness as the antioxidant compound EUK134.…”

“…Curcumin also acts as an inhibitor of RANKL-induced NFATc1 which is a downstream event of NF-κB signal pathway through suppressing of ROS generation [24], leading to suppressed proliferation, induced chemosensitization, and suppressed osteoclastogenesis [25][26][27]. Osteoclasts are activated by binding of the RANKL [28] to its cognate receptor, RANK, whereas OPG, a soluble member of the tumor necrosis receptor super-family, acts as a naturally occurring decoy receptor that competes with RANK for binding of RANKL [29].…”

“…20 This effect attenuates ROS-induced NF-kB signaling pathways for osteoclastogenesis and then causes a decrease in NFATc1 gene expression, which is the master gene involved in the osteoclastic differentiation. Figure 1 Chemical structure of curcumin.…”
