“…Being a part of the Asteraceae family [21,22], B. trimera has numerous pharmacological activities popularly attributed to their leaves, such as antiinflammatory, digestive [23], antioxidant [24], antiulcer [23,25], and antimicrobial [19,20] properties that can be helpful in the treatment of diabetes [26], rheumatism, and hepatobiliary disorders [27]. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the in vitro antifungal activity of the essential oil of B. trimera against the main strains of filamentous fungi that cause onychomycosis.…”

“…Oral treatment with HEBT restored these parameters. Pádua et al (2010) reported that a B. trimera extract significantly reduced ROS production and lipoperoxidation in neutrophils. The present results are consistent with these reports, in which the oral administration of HEBT reversed gastric ulceration by elevating the activity of antioxidant enzymes, reflected by a decrease in lipoperoxidation levels.…”

“…This extract showed activity on the reduction of gastric lesions induced by stress in mice (Gamberini et al, 1991), on the relaxation of the intestinal smooth musculature in rats (Torres et al, 2003), on the reduction of the blood glucose level in mice, indicating a potential antidiabetic activity (Oliveira et al, 2005), in addition to antiinflammatory and immunomodulatory effects (Paul et al, 2009). Hydroalcoholic extract showed antioxidant activity through in vitro and in vivo tests in neutrophils of mice (Pádua et al, 2010). Another in vitro test with the same extract showed antiparasitic activity against amastigote and promastigote forms of Leishimania (L) amazoniesis and epimastigote forms of Trypanosoma cruzi (Luize et al, 2005).…”
