“…Indeed, the similar action of NMEPHS to atorvastatin could be due to the high content of bioactive components, especially phenolic compounds (flavonoid polyphenols, tannins and anthocyanins) present in the powder fraction of H. sabdariffa calyx causing the oxidation of fat cells responsible for the increase of the body fat mass. Ngatchic et al (2020) [22], also demonstrated that administration of Adansonia digitata pulp powder of particle size class <50 µm to rats fed with a diet high in saturated fatty acids and cholesterol resulted in a significant decrease in weight gain and adiposomatic index.
