Antioxidant and Antibacterial Activities for Several Phenolic Compounds in Selected Personal Care Products

Abstract: The radical scavenging activity of phenolic compounds such as butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) as antioxidants, and octyl methylcinnamat (OMC) as UVB-filter in selected personal care products such as sunscreen cream, milk lotion, hair oil and hair gel were evaluated. 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical was used as reagent and antioxidant activity expressed as decrease in the percentage of DPPH.
