Antioxidant activity of SSeCAHK in HepG2 cells: a selenopeptide identified from selenium-enriched soybean protein hydrolysates

Abstract: Se-containing antioxidative soybean peptides were isolated and identified as SSeCAHK. The SSeCAHK had protective effects against H2O2-induced oxidative stress in HepG2 cells and could be used as a natural food-born antioxidant.

“…Recent studies have confirmed that Se-SPep is readily absorbed and displays unique biological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune regulatory properties. 26,27,44,45 Se, which is incorporated into proteins and located in the active centers of some proteins, serves an important biological function in human health. 46 Experimental studies have demonstrated that Se protects the lungs from acute injury by activating GSH-Px, attenuating oxidants, and reducing the inflammatory response and lipid peroxidation.…”

“…20,24,25 Previous studies have shown that Se-containing soybean peptides exhibited excellent antioxidant and immunoregulation capacity. 26,27 This study established a mouse model involving lung injury via the nasal inhalation of PM2.5 to understand the underlying mechanisms of PM2.5-induced lung toxicity and the protective effect of Se-SPep. The secretion of inflammatory factors and the expression of the TLR4/NF-κB/IκBα and NLRP3/ASC/ caspase-1 pathways of the PM2.5-exposed mouse model were examined to provide a theoretical basis for preventing and treating PM2.5-induced lung injury in clinics.…”

“…H 2 O 2 , as a considerably active oxygen molecule with relatively stable properties, is one of the main factors causing excessive oxidative stress, which is widely used to establish cell oxidative damage model (16,22). In this research, 400 ∼ 700 µM of H 2 O 2 were used to induce HepG2 cells for 6 h to establish the oxidative stress model.…”
