Antimony trichloride 1:1 complexes with terephthaldehyde and p-diacetylbenzene

Abstract: The crystal and molecular structures of 1 : 1 adducts of SbC1 a with organic carbonyl compounds were determined by X-ray diffraction. The terephthaldehyde adduct (CsH602SbC13) crystallized in space group Pnma with Z = 4 and lattice constants a = 8-433 (1), b = 21.556 (2), and c = 6.279 (1) A. The Sb atom is strongly coordinated to two carbonyl O atoms, and weakly coordinated to a C1, in a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal configuration. The p-diacetylbenzene adduct (C~0H~002SbC13) crystallized in space group Pb… Show more

“…Halogenoantimonates constitute a group of salts in which a number of compounds have been reported (e.g. Feng et al, 2007;Bujak & Zaleski, 1999;Knodler et al, 1988;Baker & Williams, 1978 and see: Clemente & Marzotto (2003); Marsh et al (1995) for corrected space groups of some of these types of compounds). In our laboratory, a compound containing pentachloridoantimonate has been synthesized, its crystal structure is reported herein.…”
