“…ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae are critical priority resistant pathogens and were not previously reported in NHP from South America. A recent study found MDR- Enterobacteriaceae in samples taken from free-living black capuchin monkeys ( Sapajus nigritus ) in Brazil, identifying resistant strains to beta-lactam antibiotics, but no ESBL-production was detected ( 39 ).
