“…In the current study, S. agalactiae exhibited complete resistance to 10 out of 15 tested antimicrobial drugs. Likewise, high levels of resistance to clindamycin (80%), erythromycin and tetracycline (68% each), amoxicillin (60%), and penicillin (52%) were previously reported in a recent study in Egypt [ 7 ]. In another study in China [ 14 ], 88.9% of streptococci isolates recovered from mastitic cows were MDR.…”

“…However, its reemergence was denoted in China [ 4 ], Norway [ 5 ], Denmark, and several Scandinavian countries [ 6 ]. In Egypt, S. agalactiae was recently detected in cows diagnosed with clinical mastitis [ 7 , 8 ].…”

“…Sulfamethoxazole is often carried along with tetracycline resistance in plasmids (Munita and Arias 2016). An interesting in isolate observation is that high isolate resistant and multi-drug resistance (MDR) toward tetracycline and trimethoprimsulfamethoxazole as reported in other studies, although these molecules are only occasionally used for treating mastitis (Saed and Ibrahim 2020). Staphylococci resistance to sulfamethoxazole is mediated by following five mechanisms such as permeability barrier or efflux pumps, naturally insensitive enzymes target, regulation changes in the enzymes target, change of mutational or recombinational in the enzymes target and acquired resistance by drug-resistant enzymes target (Munita and Arias 2016).…”

“…With regard to the antimicrobial bioassay, the pathogenic bacterium Streptococcus sp., which is a Gram-positive bacterium, has a wide range of hosts. It usually exhibits a high degree of resistance against antibiotics [ 27 , 28 ]. It was shown [ 29 ] that there is a noticeable rise in antibiotic-resistant Streptococci strains that are capable of infecting humans and animals, causing morbidity and fatalities.…”
