Antimicrobial polymeric paints: An up‐to‐date review

Abstract: A wreaking havoc condition in current urges the use of antimicrobial materials at its maximum. The various sectors such as health‐care institutions, food packaging, textile industry, water‐purification system, and so on, have high demand for the use of antimicrobial materials and paint industry is one amongst them. Since millennium, paints has been used to decorate the surroundings we live in. The transformation of use of paints can be observed from prehistoric to modern day walls as a protective and a feature… Show more

“…They include a number of anti-bacterial and anti-viral plastics 160 and paints. 161 Various types of biomass-derived plastics and paints have been explained above thus far, although there are not many products that have both functions. Nevertheless, recently, some biomass biodegradable plastics 162 and paints 163 with an anti-bacterial property were studied.…”

“…[51] In this context, their favorable properties such as water solubility, high adhesion strength, and thermal stability have been leveraged for applications such as refractory adhesives, paints, and cement additives. [49,[52][53][54] To the best of our knowledge, the first instance of the application of silicate-based IABs for battery electrodes was acknowledged in the year 1996. [55] The inventors utilized lithium polysilicate (LPS: Li 2 Si 5 O 11 ) as a binder for graphite anodes and LiCoO 2 cathodes for lithium-ion cells, which was also patented by "Mitsubishi Chemical Corporations, (Japan)" in the year 1999.…”
