“…To form mature biofilm of L. monocytogenes, the bacterial suspension was cultured overnight at 37 • C, then 2000 µl bacteria suspension were added to each well (with embedded coverslips) in 24-well tissue culture plates and incubated at 37 • C for 24 h, then the fresh broth was added to each well after remove the old broth, and incubated for 24 h, and then the broth was changed again and incubated for another 24 h. After incubated for 72 h in total, 2000 µl fresh broth containing linalool (1 × MIC concentration) was added to each well, then the plates were incubated for a series of time intervals (8, 16, and 24 h) at 37 • C, the broth without linalool added was used as positive control (Guo et al, 2019). After incubation, the old broth were removed and the samples were washed with PBS three times.…”

“…Changes in the expression levels of genes were confirmed by qRT-PCR, and it was found that the genes related to oxidative stress were up-regulated, and the genes related to cell wall synthesis were down-regulated after pterostilbene treatment. The essential oil from Huyou plant could effectively destroy the cell membrane and biofilm of Listeria monocytogenes , and RNA sequencing results showed that differentially expressed genes were enriched in pathways such as protein export, bacterial secretion systems, ABC transporter, and quorum sensing (Guo et al, 2019). A transcriptomic analysis revealed the upregulation of related stress resistance genes in essential oil-adapted E. coli cells (treated with antibacterial agents at one-half MIC), and these cells have shown enhanced resistance against subsequent lethal essential oil (Yuan et al, 2018).…”

“…L. monocytogenes is one of the most important foodborne pathogens (Guo et al, 2019) and can cause an important public health problem with high mortality and morbidity rates (Lee et al, 2018;Stratakos, et al, 2020). L. monocytogenes infection entitled listeriosis can lead to disease during vulnerable stages of life such as newborn, pregnant woman, elderly and persons with immunocompromising conditions individuals (Gomez et al, 2014).…”

“…L. monocytogenes can be found in various food groups such as milk and dairy products, meat and meat products, seafood, vegetables and ready-to-eat foods (Lee et al, 2018). L. monocytogenes grows between 0.4 and 50 °C (Zhu et al, 2017;Guo et al, 2019). Therefore, the development of this pathogen in refrigerator conditions makes food preservation difficulties.…”
