Antigen expression on recurrent meningioma cells

Abstract: IntroductionMeningiomas are intracranial brain tumours that frequently recur. Recurrence rates up to 20% in 20 years for benign meningiomas, up to 80% for atypical meningiomas and up to 100% for malignant meningiomas, have been reported. The most important prognostic factors for meningioma recurrence are meningioma grade, meningioma invasiveness and radicality of neurosurgical resection. The aim of our study was to evaluate the differences in antigenic expression on the surface of meningioma cells between recu… Show more

“…Recently, Schiffer et al (2005) It is worth mentioning that the risk of recurrence of meningioma was significantly associated with specific locations, namely, the olfactory groove, sphenoid wing and parasagittal-falcine (Maiuri et al 2007;Vranic, 2010). In this study, tumour recurrence was insignificantly related to tumour location.…”

“…This finding was significant in some reports (Matsuno et al, 1996;Wolfsberger et al, 2004), but insignificant in others (Roser et al, 2004;Korhonen et al, 2006). It was predominant in women in some studies (Leães et al, 2010;Vranic, 2010;Mukherjee et al, 2011) and predominant in men in others (Milenković et al, 2004). PR expression was insignificantly related to sex and this was similar to the studies conducted by Wolfsberger et al (2004), Korhonen et al (2006), Claus et al (2008).…”
