“…Dissection was performed after ten days and it was found that 2% seed extract showed full (100%) anti-fertilization, whereas 0.5% and 1% seed extracts presented 80% and 40% anti-pregnant action, respectively. This author has commented that D. metel is a good source of contraceptive compounds with inconsiderable side effects ( Pandiarajan et al, 2012 ). Not only this, there was another study on male rats where D. fastuolsa’s (metel) ethanolic extract was given orally for 7 weeks at 2, 4, and 6 mg/kg concentration, and the results were surprising as it decreased sperm content and normal sperm compared with the control group.…”
