“…The structure of β-sitostenone [3], ergosterol 5,8-endoperoxide [4] (Figure S1), citromycin ( 1a ) [5], 12-methoxycitromycin ( 1b ) [5], myxotrichin D ( 1d ) [6], 12-methoxycitromycetin ( 1e ) [5], anhydrofulvic acid ( 2a ) [7,8], myxotrichin C ( 2b ) [6], penialidin D ( 2c ) [9], penialidin F ( 3a ) [9,10], SPF-3059-30 ( 7 ) [11], GKK1032B ( 8 ) [12,13,14], and secalonic acid A ( 9 ) [3,15] (Figure 1) were elucidated by analysis of their 1D and 2D NMR spectra as well as HRMS data, and also by comparison of their spectral data (Figures S2–S11, S15–S29, S45–S50, S52 and S53) to those reported in the literature. In the case of GKK1032B ( 8 ), the X-ray analysis was also performed to confirm the absolute configurations of all the stereogenic centers (Figure S51).…”

“…Frs 238–245 were combined (1.75 g) and precipitated in MeOH to give 202.1 mg of 8 [12,13,14]. Frs 246–251 were combined (2.67 g) and precipitated in MeOH to give 472.2 mg of ergosterol 5,8-endoperoxide [4]. Frs 252–286 were combined (493.0 mg) and crystallized in MeOH to give further 367.1 mg of ergosterol 5,8-endoperoxide.…”

“…Emodin,1,3,8-trihydroxy-6-methyl-anthraquinone ( Figure 1A), a common chemical component found in many natural plants [8], has outstanding antimicrobial [9,10], anticancer [11], antioxidant [12], and anti-inflammatory [13,14] activities. It has attracted enormous attention due to its potent inhibition effect on methicillin-sensitive S. aureus and MRSA related to pyruvate pathway imbalance induction, protein synthesis inhibition, and DNA synthesis suppression [10].…”

“…Examples of these include the new phenyl derivatives isolated from an endophytic fungus, Aspergillus flavipes, which were shown to penetrate through the biofilm matrix and kill live cells inside mature Staphylococcus aureus biofilms (Bai et al, 2014). Other examples include the bioactive specialized metabolites extracted from a mangrove-derived endophytic fungus, Eurotium chevalieri, which were shown to inhibit biofilms of S. aureus and Escherichia coli (Zin et al, 2017). Presently, there have been no specific studies conducted on the antibiofilm activities of secondary metabolites extracted from Pestalotiopsis sp.…”
