Abstract: Objective:The present study was undertaken to evaluate the anti-stress effect of the hydro-alcoholic extract of clove.Methodology:The anti-stress effect was evaluated on cold restraint induced gastric ulcers, sound stress induced biochemical changes and anoxic stress induced convulsions. Clove extract was administered orally at two different doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg. “…This is due the fact that the TTO represents a good alternative to the most commonly used antifungal drugs, because yeasts often show resistance to them [23,24]. The clove oil ( Syzygium aromaticum ) is a natural essential oil with antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, containing active compounds including eugenol, eugenol acetate, and β- caryophyllene [25,26], which are responsible for anti-oxidant activity [27,28], anti-stress [29], and anti-microbial agent [2,30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37] properties of the oil. Clove oil can be used by several industries for different purposes, like food, health, and personal care products manufacture.…”

“…The ameliorative efficacy of these medicinal plants, which play an important role in therapeutics, could be attributed to the synergistic impact of all the biologically active constituents of these plants, which enhances the antioxidant defense systems and attenuates lipid peroxidation (1). Eugenia caryophyllus (clove), a member of the Myrtaceae family, is an important medicinal plant and a common household spice often used for culinary purposes (2,3). Cloves may be drunk as a tea or smoked in cigars (4).…”

“…In West Africa, the Yoruba use a hot water infusion of cloves to treat stomach upset, vomiting, and diarrhea (6). Growing evidence in recent years suggests that Eugenia caryophyllus possesses antioxidant, antiherpetic, antipyretic, anticandidal, anticarcinogenic, antiplatelet inhibitory, local anesthetic, and aphrodisiac properties (2).…”
