Anti-skin ageing activity of napthoquinones fromArnebia nobilisReichb.f.

Abstract: The present isolation and identification of napthoquinones from roots of Arnebia nobilis Reichb.f. can lead to the discovery of new anti-skin ageing ingredient in colour cosmetics. Four compounds have been isolated and purified by rigorous column chromatography. The compounds are identified as β, β-dimethylacryl alkannin (AN-I), acetoxyisovaleryl alkannin (AAN-II), acetyl alkannin (AN-III) and alkannin (AN-IV) by interpretation of spectroscopic data. This study is the first to report the isolation of Acetoxyis… Show more

“…Functional blocking of C‐Jun has been shown to significantly reduce CCN1 expression and preserve the collagen content of the skin (Qin et al, ). Several anti‐oxidants have been developed in order to combat skin aging by preserving collagen content (Boisnic, Branchet‐Gumila, & Nocera, ; Mohapatra et al, ). In addition, several naturally occurring flavonoids have also been studied for their ability to treat photoaging mediated by the C‐Jun AP‐1/MAPK pathway (Li, Liu, Chen, Sun, & Wang, ; Lim & Kim, ; Shim, Kwon, Han, & Hwang, ).…”

“…Percolation technique was also used to obtain acetyl alkannin and β,β -dimethylacryl alkannin from the viscous red residue of Arnebia nobilis Reichb. f. ( Mohapatra et al, 2016 ). In another report, solid liquid extraction and HPLC-VIS technique was used to elute angelylshikonin, 2-methyl- n -butyrylshikonin, and isovaleryl shikonin from the dried roots of Echium etalicum ( Albreht, Vovk, Simonovska, & Srbinoska, 2009 ).…”
