RESUMO: "Avaliação dos efeitos antinociceptivo e antiinfl amatório de Croton pullei var. glabrior Lanj. (Euphorbiaceae)". Croton pullei var. glabrior Lanj. (Euphorbiaceae) é uma liana, amplamente distribuída na Floresta Amazônica. Na medicina popular, diversas plantas do gênero Croton têm sido utilizadas com fi ns terapêuticos em patologias que envolvem dor e infl amação, o que justifi ca este trabalho. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar as atividades antinociceptiva e antiinfl amatória do extrato metanólico das folhas de C. pullei (MECP). O MECP reduziu, de forma dose-dependente, o número de contorções abdominais (1,2 %) em camundongos, sugerindo uma atividade antinociceptiva da planta. Por outro lado, o MECP não alterou signifi cativamente a reatividade ao estímulo térmico no teste da placa quente e a reatividade à estimulação química na primeira fase do teste da formalina, indicando um mecanismo não-opioidérgico. O MECP reduziu a nocicepção na segunda fase do teste da formalina, inibiu o edema de orelha induzido pelo óleo de croton e reduziu a migração leucocitária no teste da peritonite induzida por carragenina, indicando uma atividade antiinfl amatória. Apesar dos mecanismos responsáveis pelos efeitos da planta ainda não estarem completamente esclarecidos, estes resultados parecem justifi car o uso medicinal potencial de Croton pullei var. glabrior Lanj. em patologias que envolvam dor e infl amação.Unitermos: Antiinfl amatório, antinociceptivo, Croton pullei var. glabrior, fi tomedicina. ABSTRACT:Croton pullei var. glabrior Lanj. (Euphorbiaceae) is a liana, vastly distributed in the Amazonian Forest. In the folk medicine, several plants of the Croton genus have been used with therapeutic purposes in pathologies that involve painful and infl ammatory diseases which justify this work. The aim of this study was to investigate the antinociceptive and antiinfl ammatory activities of the C. pullei leaves methanol extract (MECP). MECP reduced in a dose-dependent manner the number of acetic acid-induced abdominal writhing (1.2%) in mice, suggesting an antinociceptive activity of the plant. On the other hand, MECP did not signifi cantly modify the reactivity to the thermal stimulation in the hot-plate test and the reactivity to the chemical stimulation in the formalin test fi rst phase, indicating a non-opioid mechanism. MECP reduced the formalin-induced nociception in the second phase, inhibited the croton oil-induced ear edema and reduced the leukocytes migration in the test of the carrageenan-induced peritonitis, indicating an antiinfl ammatory activity. Although the mechanisms that underlie these plant effects are not completely elucidated, these results appear to support the potential medicinal use of Croton pullei var. glabrior Lanj. against painful and infl ammatory diseases.

Objectives: to evaluate, histologically and macroscopically, the influence of Copaifera multijuga (Copaíba) oil-resin on the healing process of cutaneous wounds, comparing it with nitrofurazone. Methods: we divided 36 rats into three groups of 12 animals, according to the treatment to be administered. Group SL (control) received saline on the lesion; the Group OIL received topical treatment with Copaíba oil; and the Group NITRO was treated with Nitrofurazone. We inflicted a circular wound of 8mm in diameter on the back of each animal. We subdivided each of the three groups of 12 animals into three subgroups, according to treatment time and euthanasia (7, 14 and 21 days). All animals received the proposed treatment daily. We photographed the lesions for area measurement, as well as for evaluation of macroscopic aspects. We resected and stained the scars to quantify and qualify elastic fibers, collagen, degree of epithelization, neovascularization and inflammation. Results: although the saline solution provided a faster wound closure in its initial phase, after 14 days the wound size of the three groups tested was the same. Levels of inflammation and neovascularization were similar in all three groups. The amount of collagen and elastic fibers was higher in the Nitrofurazone and Copaíba oil groups. Conclusion: in male Wistar rats, Copaifera multijuga oil-resin positively influences the healing process, but it is less effective than nitrofurazone in healing by secondary intention.

RESUMO:Annona glabra Linneau, Annonaceae, é uma árvore de pequeno porte encontrada em todo território brasileiro, principalmente nas áreas costeiras e conhecida popularmente como araticum-do-brejo e araticum-bravo. Este trabalho teve como objetivos investigar os efeitos do extrato de A. glabra e do ácido caurenóico dele purificado sobre a migração de granulócitos humanos e seu potencial imunomodulatório. Os resultados demonstraram que o extrato de A. glabra inibe a migração natural de granulócitos, de acordo com a dose, sugerindo potencial antiinflamatório, enquanto o ácido caurenóico demonstrou estimulá-la de forma significativa. Em contraste, nenhum efeito foi observado com relação a imunomodulação. Os efeitos apresentados ainda não foram descritos e, dessa forma, contribuem para ampliar a lista de atividades biológicas descritas não só do extrato de A. glabra, como também para o ácido caurenóico.Unitermos: Annona glabra, Annonaceae, ácido caurenóico, leucócitos humanos, quimiotaxia, imunomodulação.ABSTRACT: "Anti-inflammatory potential of Annona glabra, Annonaceae". Annona glabra Linneau, Annonaceae, is a small tree that grows over the Brazilian territory particularly in its coast, and is known as "araticum-do-brejo" and "araticum-bravo". The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the extract of A. glabra and its purified kaurenoic acid on the locomotion of human granulocytes and their immunomodulatory potential. The results herein presented showed a dose-dependent inhibition of the granulocyte migration for the extract, suggesting an anti-inflammatory activity, in contrast with a striking stimulation observed for the kaurenoic acid. When focusing immunomodulation properties, no activity could be drawn. The effects presented in this work are reported for the first time and extend the list of biological activities already described for the A. glabra extract as well as for the kaurenoic acid.
