Inflammation is a complex series of changes in tissue due to tissue injury caused by bacteria, trauma, chemicals, heat, and pain. Gamboge (Garcinia xanthochymus) is a fruit-bearing tree native to Southeast Asia. Plants of the genus garcinia are rich in secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, steroids, and triterpenes which have potential pharmacological activity. This study aimed to determine the anti-inflammatory activity based on the reduction in edema volume of Gamboge (Garcinia xanthochymus) stem bark. The inquiry was experimental. Through maceration, an ethanol extract of the gamboge stem was created. The animals were divided into five groups, each containing five white male rats. The test given was a suspension of gamboge ethanol extract at doses of 200, 400, and 600 mg/kgBW, a negative control of 1% Na CMC suspension, and a positive control of 2.25 mg/kgBW sodium diclofenac. Observations were made for 6 hours, and then data were analyzed using a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. The results showed that gamboge ethanolic extract was proven to have an anti-inflammatory effect in white male rats induced by carrageenan starting at doses of 200, 400, and 600 mg/kgBW, marked by a significant difference to the negative control (p<0.05). The 600mg/kgBW dose group showed no significantly different results from the positive control group (p>.05). These results concluded that the dose group 600mg/kgBW was the best dose of gamboge stem ethanol extract had an anti-inflammatory activity based on reducing the volume of leg edema of white male rats. This study aims to formulate ethanol extract of pandan wangi leaves into a cream body scrub preparation and examining the effectiveness of body scrub in smoothing the skin by analyzing the moisture and evenness of volunteers' skin. This research was carried out by sample processing, extract making, formulating cream body scrub preparation by evaluating its consistency, color and odor (organoleptic), homogeneity, pH of preparation, spreadability, emulsion type, irritation test, stability and effectiveness test using skin analyzer. Cream scrub preparations were made with several concentrations, namely 1%, 2% and 3%. The results of the study showed that the ethanol extract of pandan wangi leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) could be formulated in cream scrub preparations which show homogeneous preparations, pH ranging from 5.4-6.0, met the requirements for spreadability, was an oil in water emulsion type, did not irritate the skin and the preparations were stable during the accelerated stability test with cycling test method. Furthermore, the cream scrub preparations of Pandan wangi leaf extract can increase moisture and improve skin smoothness until 31.48% and show a significant different with another group test (p<0.05).

Background: The skin is the organ that covers the entire human body and serves to protect the body from outside influences, so that the skin needs to be protected. The process of destruction of the skin characterized by the appearance of wrinkles, dried and cracked. Skin damage can occur due to the sun's rays. Antioxidants are needed to prevent, inhibit structural damage of the skin. This study aims to determine the best concentration from a combination of Clitoria ternatea L. flower extract and dragon fruit (Hylocereus Polyrhizus (F.A.C. Weber) Britton & Rose) peel extract in lotion formulation. The research was conducted by making extract preparation and formulate in lotion by differentiating its concentration F1 (5%:5%), F2 (3%:6%), F3 (7%:3.5%). The results: Lotion of combination Clitoria ternatea L flower and dragon fruit peel extract with concentration F3 (7%:3.5%), showed the best effect, because it gives higher moisture increase compared to initial conditions, from to 32.6% become 65.2% after 4 weeks of usage. The conclusion: Combination Clitoria ternatea L. flower and dragon fruit peel extract can be formulated as a moisturizing lotion and with best combination in 7%: 3.5%.
