“…As reported previously, 11,13,15,16 high-purity Bi 2 O 3 , PbO, SrCO 3 , and Co 3 O 4 powders were used as raw materials and mixed with an atomic ratio of Bi:Pb:Sr:Co= 2 − x : x :2:2 ͑x = 0.6͒. The resulting powder was mixed and crushed in an agate mortar and then preheated at 800°C in air for 24 h. After cooling to room temperature the resultant mixture was ground again and mixed carefully with additional Bi 2 O 3 flux.…”

“…On the other hand, ͑Bi, Pb͒-Sr-Co-O is the first example that shows ferromagnetic long-range order in two-dimensional conducting CoO 2 layers. 4,11,14,15 The Pb substitution and misfit-layered structure play an important role in understanding the origin of these peculiar physical properties. The studies of Yamamoto et al 16 and Leligny et al [17][18][19] suggested that the ͑Bi, Pb͒-Sr-Co-O system has a misfit-layered structure between the hexagonal CoO 2 layer and rock-salt Bi 2 Sr 2 O 4 layer.…”

“…The anisotropy ρ c /ρ ab increases with decreasing temperature, similar to that observed in the (Bi,Pb) 2 Sr 2 Co 2 O y crystals. [13] Strongly temperature-dependent anisotropy indicates that scattering mechanism is different between in-plane and along c-axis, suggesting a quasi twodimensional electronic structure.…”

“…[12] It has been found by us that there coexist large negative and positive contributions to the nonmonotonic magnetic-field dependent MR in Pb-doped Bi 2 Sr 2 Co 2 O y . [13] Spin-dependent charge transport has been taken into account for understanding the large negative MR in Sr and Ca compounds, but the large positive MR in Ba compounds has not been fully understood. In polycrystalline Bi 2 Ba 2 Co 2 O y sample, Hervieu et al reported that the positive isothermal MR exhibits a linear H dependence.…”

“…In many works, the MacDonald formula 22 has been used to study the current-noise spectra. [23][24][25] Effective in situ manipulation of quantum conductors is a key step for further development. Using a time-dependent field to manipulate the dynamics of quantum dots promises to be advantageous in situations ranging from photonassisted inelastic tunneling 26 to quantum pumping.…”
