Annealing effect on the structural and magnetic properties of nickel ferrite thin films

Abstract: Nickel ferrite is a soft magnetic material with inverse spinel structure. Soft ferrite films are used in microwave devices, integrated planar circuits, etc., because of their high resistivity. In this work, thin films of nickel ferrite were deposited on Si (100) substrate by using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. The thickness of the film was measured by surface profilometer and also by X-ray reflectivity (XRR). The films were annealed at three different temperatures to observe the effect on the struct… Show more

“…Material science becomes a promising field of nanoscience, due its remarkable applications in the research. It covers wide range of research applications such as sensors [1][2][3], adsorption, photocatalysis, biosensors, solar cells, conducting material, drug distribution, photovoltaic, medicinal, agricultural and catalytical applications, sultriness sensors [4][5][6][7][8][9][10].Nowadays, enormous incrimination in the level of pollution and industrial hazards is the major threat for environment. The evolution of toxic substances and gases from industries as well as from conveyances are the major sources of pollutant gases.…”

“…Spin coating is widely used in modern optical and microelectronic industries [7]. The understanding of its underlying physics remains limited, a fact attributed to the lack of experimental data for the evolution of various parameters during the process [8,9], leading to the need for new evolution tools.…”

“…Considerable research studies were carried out to examine laser treatment of high-performance nickel-based alloys. [4][5][6][7] Effect of heat treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of laser-treated Rene 41 was investigated by Li et al [8] They showed that extensive precipitation of γ' resulted in high hardness and ductility, and the subsequent alignment and coalescence of γ' precipitates induced low strength in the laser-treated layer. Microstructure evolution of laser repair welded nickel-based superalloy cast was studied by Wang et al [9] Their findings revealed that, because of suffering from different thermal histories during the multi-pass welding process, microstructures within the weld region formed six distinct zones.…”
