Angiomatoid giant cellular blue nevus of vaginal wall associated with pregnancy

Abstract: BackgroundBlue nevi that arise from the Müllerian tract are rare melanocytic lesions. Several histopathologic variants of cellular blue nevi have been described. The angiomatoid variant is characterized by a vascular component, and is considered to be a rare variant. Few studies have explored the influence of pregnancy on melanocytic lesions.CaseA 29-year-old woman was presented with a pigmented vaginal lesion that increased gradually during pregnancy. A full term gynecologic examination showed a tumor mass pr… Show more

“…There was a lack of cellular mitosis, however. Radiological exams (MRT) of the cerebral structures revealed a hypervascular lesion with strong contrast uptake, suggesting the angiomatoid variant of blue nevus, characterized by a vascular component [17], yet this was absent from the anatomopathological examination in our case. Regional lymph nodes were not affected.…”

“…Giant-type CBN is defined as bigger than 20 cm and is often located on the scalp [14]. Nevertheless, extracutaneous locations have been reported, such as the prostate [15], the cervix [16], the Müllerian tract [17], the oral cavity [18,19], lymph node capsules [20] and neurological structures such as meninges [21,22]. Genodermatosis such as Carney complex with GNAS mutation [23] is known to be associated with this.…”

“…However, CBN larger than 10 cm, namely, GCBN, is rare and few cases of this have been reported in the literature [ Table 1 ]. [ 1 2 3 4 5 ] Moreover, GCBN of this size (25 cm × 20 cm) has so far not been reported in the literature.…”

“…Al-Shraim [6] reported a similar case of angiomatoid giant cellular blue nevus of the vaginal wall. Compared to that reported by Al-Shraim [6], the lesion in our case should strong immunohistochemical positivity for CD34. Our case of angiomatoid Spitz nevus with vaginal bleeding is the first such report in Korea.…”
