Android physics comics to train the mathematical representation ability on momentum and impulse of senior high school students

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to train students’ mathematical representation abilities using the android physics comics of momentum and impulses. This research is an experimental research. This research was conducted in the 2nd semester of April 2019. Performed in the semester II on April 2019. Using 2 classes, namely X MIA 3 as comic modelling class with 22 students and X MIA 1 as comic implementation class with 24 students. The data collection instrument was in the form of a mathematical representation abilit… Show more

“…It is used to observe prediction and assumption of a problem using reasoning skill so that the students can understand, make, and evaluate assumptions and arguments mathematically and systematically (Cartrette & Bodner, 2010;Nor'ain Mohd & Chinnappan, 2016;Doran, 2017). In general, mathematical representation takes the form of equation and formula (Namdar & Shen, 2017) and the combination of mathematical symbols and structure which use numbers, variables, and equation (Jaccard & Jacoby, 2010;Priyadi, Kuswanto & Sumarna, 2020). This equation in physics is called physics language (Docktor & Mestre, 2014).…”

“…Various customs ranging from community habits or just games that are usually played are integrated to get a learning system that is easier for students. As a result, many students were helped and were more critical and understood better in explaining the learning material presented [5] [11] [10] [14]. The extent of custom that develops in the community makes educators more flexible in integrating this in learning.…”

“…The use of appropriate and appropriate criteria in the application of learning media can be used to support learning that is facts, concepts, principles or generalizations, practical and durable, easy to use by teachers, right on target and of good quality. By utilizing an android media application that can be accessed more flexibly anywhere and anytime [4], media that contains various interesting features also prevents students from feeling bored and more enthusiastic in learning [5]. The presentation of media that is easier and more interactive is an attraction and a separate strategy for teachers and students in learning.…”

“…Digital comics are developing in the society, and therefore many people use them. Comics can be written on paper, but they can also be made by using the Internet and even be mixed with digital technology (Priyadi, Kuswanto & Sumarna, 2020). Being in the Android form facilitates students to carry them everywhere.…”
