We also highlight a previously unexplored outcome of conflict -secession, or the formal exit from a GI consortium -which shows that producers (individually or as a group) are dynamically subject to both centripetal and centrifugal forces as they evaluate whether or not (keeping on) adhering to the collective strategy behind a GI (Moity Maïzi and Bouche, 2011). Future research should pay more attention to the heterogeneous distribution of costs and benefits among adhering members, as well as the governance mechanisms that are put in place to ensure adequate levels of representation in collective decision-making.…”
