The aim of the scientific contribution is to point out the possibility of applicability of cylindrical shells with a constant elliptical cross-sectional shape for stability loss analysis. The solution to the problem consists of two approaches. The first approach is the experimental measurement of critical force levels, where the work also describes the method of production of the sample and jigs that cause the desired elliptical shape. The second approach is solving the problem in the use of numerical methods—the finite strip method together with the finite element method.

В работе сформулирована математическая модель для исследования нелинейного гидроупругого отклика стенки узкого канала, заполненного пульсирующей вязкой жидкостью, опирающейся на пружину c нелинейной жесткостью. В отличие от известных подходов в рамках предложенной модели осуществлен одновременный учет инерционных и диссипативных свойств вязкой несжимаемой жидкости и нелинейности восстанавливающей силы поддерживающей пружины. Математическая модель представляет собой систему уравнений плоской задачи гидроупругости, включающей уравнения движения вязкой несжимаемой жидкости, с соответствующими краевыми условиями, и уравнение движения стенки канала как одномассовой модели с восстанавливающей силой, имеющей кубическую нелинейность. Динамика вязкой жидкости первоначально исследована в рамках гидродинамической теории смазки, т. е. без учета инерции ее движения. На следующем этапе для учета инерции движения вязкой жидкости использован метод итерации. Найдены законы распределения гидродинамических параметров вязкой жидкости в канале, что позволило определить ее реакцию, действующую на стенку канала. В результате показано, что исходная задача гидроупругости сводится к одному нелинейному уравнению, совпадающему с уравнением Дуффинга. В данном уравнении коэффициент демпфирования определяется физическими свойствами жидкости и геометрическими размерами канала, а учет инерции движения жидкости приводит к появлению дополнительной присоединенной массы, зависящей от тех же параметров. Исследование нелинейного уравнения гидроупругих колебаний проведено методом гармонического баланса для основной частоты пульсаций вязкой жидкости. В результате найден основной гидроупругий отклик стенки канала, опирающейся на пружину с мягкой или жесткой кубической нелинейностью. Численное моделирование гидроупругого отклика стенки канала показало возможность скачкообразного изменения амплитуд ее колебаний, а также дало возможность оценить влияние инерции движения жидкости на частотный диапазон, в котором наблюдаются данные изменения.Ключевые слова: нелинейные колебания, вязкая жидкость, стенка канала на нелинейноупругой опоре, пульсация давления, кубическая нелинейность, гидроупругий отклик

The scientific paper presents a technique for calculating a thick-walled axially symmetrical construction consisting of a steel rod (reinforcing component) and an external thick-walled shell made of carbon fiber. The construction is loaded with linear load distributed along its length, associated with the operating external pressure, and inertial forces. The technique is based on a one-dimensional model of a composite rod of variable cross-section, roughly taking into account transverse deformations, which is necessary when analyzing a thickwalled construction operating under pressure. In the proposed approach, the geometry of the product is divided into sections and approximated by fragments in the form of truncated cones and, in the particular case, in the form of cylinders. As a result of calculations, the distribution of normal tensile/compression stresses in the shell and in the reinforcing rod, as well as tangential stresses at the boundary of their contact, are determined. As a result of test calculations, a fairly good consistency of the considered one-dimensional model with refined finiteelement modeling is shown. It has been established that the concentration of shear stresses is realised due to the presence of substantially inhomogeneous deformations in the areas of sharp changes in geometry, a reduction in the radius of the shell (the appearance of edge effects), and in the area of a sharp increase in the radius of the bevel of the shell where external pressure is in place.
