Analytical Calculation of Mutual Inductance of Finite-Length Coaxial Helical Filaments and Tape Coils

Abstract: Mutual inductance between finite-length coaxial helical filaments and tape coils are presented analytically. In this paper, a mathematical model for finite-length coaxial helical filaments is established, and subsequently, the mutual inductance of the filaments is derived in a series form, containing a one-dimensional integral. The mutual inductance expression of the filaments is then generalized for a tape conductor. When the tape conductor of each coil is closely wound, then the inverse Mellin transform is f… Show more

“…Authors developed a new method for calculating the inductance of air-core circular coils with rectangular cross section and parallel axes [23,24]. Moreover, a compact multituned filter with coupled inductors was proposed in [5], which can reduce the required space of inductors while eliminating characteristic harmonics.…”

“…By contrast, there exist some blind locations, hard to reach in the intestine for conventional endoscopes [13]. On the other hand, WCE could be in any possible position and direction in the GI tract during the detection, causing misalignment between RC and TC [14]. Thus, the receiving power varies correspondingly [15].…”

“…However, with regard to high-frequency magnetic coupling resonance wireless power transmission coils with a large transmission distance, the screw pitches are often large, which reduces the distributed capacitor and improves the Q value [18]. For helical coils, or namely solenoids, [19] figured out that helicity cannot be ignored at large pitch length, and mutual inductance between coaxial helical coils are presented analytically. Hence, the helicity of Archimedean spiral coils with large screw pitches should also be taken into account.…”
