Analysis of the performance of inventory management systems using the SCOR model and Batch Deterministic and Stochastic Petri Nets

Abstract: In this article, we present a contribution to modeling, evaluation, and analysis of the inventory management systems performance and more generally stochastic discrete event systems with a batch behavior. For this contribution, we combine two models: the Supply Chain Operations Reference model, proposed by the Supply Chain Council, with the Batch Deterministic and Stochastic Petri Nets, which constitutes a very powerful dynamic modeling tool. To do this, we applied these tools on a typical model of inventory m… Show more

“…Moreover, inventory management is indispensable for small businesses as well as for large-scale businesses. Effective inventory management can enhance the strategic competitiveness of any organization (Chopra & Meindl, 2013; Fattah et al, 2016; Hartley et al, 2002). Various companies control inventory by adopting various techniques by confirming the lowest cost and product availability (Bin-Syed et al, 2016).…”

“…In this context, we present a model, proposed in [22], which allows us to evaluate the performance of the interventions of the maintenance and the supply of the spare parts. is model is based on the model proposed in [21] for the performance evaluation of the management of spare parts, which is inspired from the models presented in [5,16] and the models presented in [4,9] that deal with the performance evaluation of the maintenance. e model is presented in Figure 1, and its parameters are presented in Table 2.…”

“…Using the performance indicators formalized by [5,9,16,21] and the state distribution, the performance evaluation of the modeled system is done by the analysis of the parameters' effect on the variation of the performance which depends on the parameters cited in Table 2.…”

“…Fattah et al [10] studied how Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model and Batch Deterministic and Stochastic Petri Nets can be utilized modeling and analyzing the performance of the inventory management system thereby providing information with respect to their behavior and how they affect other parameters. The resolution of the stochastic process associated with the warehouse management system permits for calculating the performance indicators like: average stock, average cost of stock, probability of an empty stock, and average supply and sales frequency.…”
