“…Regional differences were also observed, where some urbanized areas may have high incidence of oral cancer due to sex trade. While the heightened cases in the rural areas may be due to the tobacco industry and betel nut chewing (Dalanon et al, 2020).…”

“…Among others, scientists and epidemiologists have used GT in the past to detect health-seeking behavior in terms of toothache (Dalanon et al, 2021), tooth decay (Dalanon and Matsuka, 2020b;Dalanon and Matsuka, 2020a), health professions (Dalanon and Matsuka, 2020c;Dalanon and Matsuka, 2020d), influenza (Choi and Ahn, 2020), Zika (Strauss et al, 2020), and COVID-19 (Adkins and Booth, 2020;Sycinska-Dziarnowska and Paradowska-Stankiewicz, 2020). A previous study analyzed search interests for oral cancer in Filipino people, but an analysis of global GT data has not been done yet (Dalanon et al, 2020). In addition, the existing contagion brought about by the SARS-CoV-2 (Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) may have implications in cancer prevention and treatment in Asian and low-and middle-income countries (Gatellier et al, 2021;Somathunga et al, 2021;Varela-Centelles et al, 2021;Yadav et al, 2021).…”

“…In both articles, it is not reported how many participants were considered in the analysis. In Dalanon et al ( 2018) [166], no statistical significance of the results is reported (Question 4.5). Reasons for deducting points for "mixed-methods studies" included the fact that it remained unclear how the differend study designs fit together or were built on each other (Question 5.1) (e.g., Clarkson et al (2020) [116]).…”

“…[25][26][27] Pertinently, populations' health informationseeking behavior has been evaluated by analyzing online interests using Google Trends. 25,26 For example, Google Trends analysis has been used to evaluate online interest dynamics on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), salmonellosis, and mental health. [27][28][29][30] After extensive literature, it was observed that no know study has analyzed the global online interest on oral cancer.…”
