Analysis of the efficiency of a solid fuel boiler depending on the choice of combusted fuel

Abstract: In the municipal and residential sector in Poland, as many as 50% of households are heated by solid fuel boilers. Most often these are, unfortunately, inefficient boilers, fired with low-quality coal. This study characterizes the market of boilers for solid fuels in Poland, and also presents the main apportionment of these devices, due to the different criteria that characterize them. The current legal changes in the scope of energy and emission requirements for solid fuel boilers are also discussed. The main … Show more

“…The tests aimed at determining the physicochemical parameters of the types of wood under analysis were carried out in a laboratory located at the Centre for Sustainable Development and Energy Conservation at the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection of the AGH University of Science and Technology (WGGiO Ś AGH) in Miękinia. In the centre, there are conducted lectures for students and workshops for people interested in the field of use of solid biofuels and low emission causes and also testing and research to reach real data for it [56][57][58]. Its equipment allows accurate determination of energy parameters of solid fuels.…”

“…For a number of years, the Centre of Sustainable Development and Energy Saving AGH WGGiOŚ "Miekinia" has conducted lectures for students and workshops for local societies (mainly in the Malopolska region) in the field of ecological utilization of solid fuels, mainly biomass fuels and low emission causes [13][14][15]. In the Centre, research and tests to prepare data for proper education in that field are also prepared [16,17].…”
