Analysis of solar photovoltaic panel integrated with ground heat exchanger for thermal mana gement

Abstract: In spite of high solar radiation being an advantage for the performance of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, the caused high surface temperature of the panel surface reduces their efficiency, as well as lifetime span due to cyclic thermal stresses. PV panels are deteriorating due to two setbacks from a harsh climate: shallow temperatures during the night leading to condensation and overheating during the day leading to reduced efficiency. The present paper discusses and resolves the two setbacks in the PV perfor… Show more

“…In practical application, the amplitude of temperature change in one day is much less than the amplitude of light change, therefore, the variation of the PV panel output power is usually studied under the condition that the temperature is kept constant. From Figure 2 and Figure 3, it can be found that the maximum power point corresponding to the photovoltaic panels under different light intensities, and the maximum power point increases with the enhancement of light intensity 8 .In order to be able to make full use of solar energy, the maximum power point tracking of PV cells is achieved by adjusting the load, and it can be operated in load tracking mode when the load is small. The temperature of the photovoltaic module was estimated by testing the ambient temperature…”

“…As Alim et al [3] highlighted, shading is one of the operational problems of PV. Nevertheless, Al-Kayiem and Reda [4] pointed out that the main factors that directly affect the efficiency of the PV are surface temperature and condensate formation, which leads to mud formation on the surface and prevents the cells from receiving solar radiation. Arifin et al [5] found that every 1℃ temperature rise in solar PV panels will correspond to a drop in efficiency of around 0.5%, indicating that the panel's temperature significantly affects the energy conversion.…”

“…Arifin et al [5] found that every 1℃ temperature rise in solar PV panels will correspond to a drop in efficiency of around 0.5%, indicating that the panel's temperature significantly affects the energy conversion. Around 80% of the energy is transformed into heat during energy conversion [4,6]. Continuous energy conversion to heat increases the temperature of the PV panel.…”

“…In recent years, the use of Nanofluids has become widespread, especially in the applications of heat transfer and the utilization of solar thermal radiation due to their good physical and chemical properties 14) . To improve the heat transfer efficiency of the used conventional fluids (water, thermal oils, etc.…”

“…), solid materials are added in Nano sizes with good thermal specifications and high conductivity, which gives a noticeable increase in the heat transfer efficiency of the base fluid. These fluids are called Nanofluids 14,15) . Nanofluid are compounds of a base liquid mixed with a solid substance.…”
