Analysis of Monohull Design Characteristics as Supporting Vessel for the COVID-19 Medical Treatment and Logistic

Abstract: The world is being hit by a health crisis by the COVID-19 pandemic which has infected peoples across the globe. The cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia itself continue to increase every day. The transportation sector is one of the sectors that have experienced numbers of direct impacts as a result of large-scale social restriction in form of preventive regulation. Furthermore, this phenomenon causes health agencies to experience difficulties in distributing logistics for handling COVID-19, especially in water areas… Show more

“…Seakeeping theory studies the motion of surface vessels in waves [23]. Seakeeping analysis is a procedure for computing vessel performance metrics related to the envelope of missions and environmental conditions in which the vessel is to operate [11]. Seakeeping tests get response amplitude operator (RAO) graphs to consist of heave motion and roll motion.…”

“…Stability testing is the ship's ability to be upright again after experiencing a certain roll/tilt [15][16][17]. In general, stability is divided into static stability (Equation 2) and dynamic stability (Equation 3).…”

“…When the equilibrium state is stable, the center of buoyancy and gravity are in one direction, and the longitudinal and transverse lines are aligned with the trim angle. Flooding on the ship will also affect the trim angle, dynamic stability, roll period, and pitch period, and these factors contribute significantly to the ship's sinking [9][10][11][12][13].…”
