Fast ship prototype design simulation with fin stabilizer on hydrodynamic characteristics for ship realization planning

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of adding variations of fin stabilizers on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the ship design. It compares the hull without modification with the hull modified by a fin stabilizer on a prototype scale. The results of this study is assessed to obtain the best performance of ships with various models to be used in the design of ship realization. The research method is conducted by numerical approach, including simulation of resistance, stability, and seakeeping. The hull … Show more

“…In calculating the resistance value of the hull, there are several methods. This study uses the Savitsky method to calculate the resistance value because the Savitsky method has an error value below 10% when combined with the numerical method [7][8][9][10][11]. This research was carried out to find the environmental to the resistance value of the ship's hull.…”

“…In previous studies, Research on monohull hull types with different dimensions produced diverse hydrodynamic characteristics data [7]. The addition of stabilizer fins to fast boat prototypes can improve the stability of ships when operating [8]. Variations in the tilt of the deadrise angle on the hull can reduce the resistance value [9].…”
