Abstract²The dynamic models of asymmetric ice-coated conductor and simulation of three most widely used anti-galloping devices were conducted with Finite Elements Methods (FEM) in ANSYS program. Fist, three anti-galloping devices, i.e. airflow-spoilers, detuning pendulums and interphase spacers, were applied in 110kV and 220kV high-voltage overhead experimental transmission lines. Then the FEA models of the transmission line with anti-galloping devices were built in ANSYS program. The simulations were performed under the condition of three different wind velocities to compare their behaviors. Furthermore, observed field data of the lines pre and post damping were gathered to verify the proposed simulation model and the effectiveness of the control approaches. The simulation results agree with the on-field observation data.
