Desde 2014, devido à crise hídrica brasileira, tem sido necessário maior despacho de usinas termelétricas, ocasionando reajustes tarifários de energia elétrica e aumento da emissão de poluentes. Assim, o uso de fontes renováveis vem ganhando espaço e entre elas está a biomassa, muitas vezes descartada inadequadamente. Considerando o aproveitamento de dejetos suínos, biomassa de alto potencial de geração de gás metano, este trabalho analisa a viabilidade de implantação de biodigestores anaeróbicos em residências como forma de geração distribuída. Os resultados indicam que a proposta contribui para redução da emissão de poluentes, trazendo vantagens financeiras ao sistema de saúde, que podem ser convertidas em incentivos aos produtores de energia, tornando o sistema economicamente viável.

Renewable energy has promoted increasingly diffused propulsions in political, social and organizational environments because of their relevance to future climatic conditions and restrictions on natural resources that threaten environmental impacts. Brazil has enormous potential to exploit renewable energy, especially photovoltaic solar energy, since it has a daily solar incidence of between 4,500 Wh/m2 and 6,300 Wh/m2. However, the development of this energy in Brazil faces barriers that end up hindering its implementation and expansion. The objective of the research is to identify and measure the impact of these barriers to the expansion of photovoltaic solar energy in Brazil, through the modeling of structural equations. For the development of the article, interviews with managers of the solar energy sector were carried out all over the country. As for the methodology, it’s an exploratory research, cross-sectional and with a qualitative-quantitative approach. Moreover, concluded that: political and knowledge barriers negatively influence the implementation and expansion of photovoltaic solar energy in Brazil.

A power plant is an industrial facility that is utilized for the generation of electrical power on a large scale. Selecting the best suitable power plant depends upon a number of various factors such as cost, fuel, location, and availability of a water source. It is very important to select an appropriate power plant to be set-up taking all these parameters and their sub-factors into consideration. In this paper, a graph-theoretic approach has been used to select the best power plant among three of the major power plants which include hydroelectric power plant, thermal power plant, and nuclear power plant. A fishbone diagram is used to represent the factors and the cofactors affecting the power plant selection process. A digraph characteristic is sketched between the factors and cofactors which are involved in the selection of the power plant. The interdependency of the factors and their inheritances are identified and they have been represented by using numerical values in this work. These values are further represented in a matrix form for the above stated three power plants. An example is made to illustrate the use of this technique in decision-making problems with different alternatives and multiple interdependent factors.
