Analysis of DSM's impacts on electric energy loss in distribution system using VPI model

Abstract: This paper presents a novel proposal for quantifying the influence of Demand Side Management (DSM) objectives on electric energy loss in distribution system. DSM objectives are modeled by VPI model and the testing results prove its suitability, especially for analysis on energy loss in distribution system. This paper uses IEEE's 34 Node Test Feeder as the test system for energy loss calculation and the analysis of DSM's influences. Network modeling is made using PSS/ADEPT 5.0. The research uses typical daily l… Show more

“…The benefits of load shifting from peak to the off‐peak period are well known and important from the viewpoint of demand response. In fact, by reducing peak demand, DSM will have different effects such as reduction the number of outages, improvement the reliability of the power system, reduction fuel consumption, and reduction the harmful activities for the environment …”

“…In fact, by reducing peak demand, DSM will have different effects such as reduction the number of outages, improvement the reliability of the power system, reduction fuel consumption, and reduction the harmful activities for the environment. [1][2][3] The DSM can play a significant role in planning the generation, distribution, and transmission networks. 4,5 Because the planning stage of implementing DSM programs is very important in the power system, the planners should study the effect of DSM programs on the power system and then apply these programs.…”
