Not being married (Miner & Dwyer, 1995;Shaw et al, 1995), a history of juvenile delinquency (Browne et al, 1998) and impulsivity (Kraemer et al, 1998), for example, are all items on the psychopathy checklist (Hare, 1991) which have also been associated with dropout risk. The link between dropping out of treatment and future offending has been established from the results of this study.…”

“…Among the seven variables they considered in their study, only reading ability and marital status were predictive of treatment outcome. Not being married and being divorced were also found to be significant predictors of dropout from outpatient sex offender treatment by Miner and Dwyer (1995). Several psychometrically assessed deficits in social interaction skills found in these men might account for the failure of the therapeutic process.…”

“…Not being married and being divorced were found to be significant predictors of dropout from outpatient sex offender treatment by Miner and Dwyer (1995). They conducted a discriminant function analysis and found that, as well as marital status, higher scores on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) L ''Lie'' scale, lower scores on the MMPI K ''social desirability'' scale, and Tennessee Total Self Concept combined to produce a function that correctly classified 72% of their adult sample as treatment completers or not.…”
